Basketball Recap: Gila Ridge Comes Up Short

Gila Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-51 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mountain View Mountain Lions. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while the Mountain Lions are ranked 121st).

It was another big night for Isaiah Romero, who went 11 of 20 en route to 34 points for Mountain View. That makes it five consecutive games in which Romero has scored at least a third of Mountain View's points. Chase Reidhead was another key player, putting up nine points and four steals.

Gila Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Mountain View, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-7.

Gila Ridge will head out on the road to take on Yuma at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Yuma is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.1 points per game this season. As for Mountain View, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Casa Grande at 7:00 p.m. Mountain View knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Casa Grande likes a good challenge.
