Baseball Recap: Bloomington Bruins vs. Hemet Bulldogs

With a playoff game on the line, Bloomington rose to the challenge on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Hemet Bulldogs. The win was some much needed relief for Bloomington as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Andrew Martin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't pitched less than six innings in four consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, Dylan Buzard was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesus DeLaRiva, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a double.

Bloomington's victory bumped their record up to 17-12. As for Hemet, their loss dropped their record down to 15-9.

Bloomington will take on Chino Hills at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The last 11 games Chino Hills has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Hemet does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
