Peachtree Ridge is 7-1 against Duluth since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Lions will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Peachtree Ridge is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
Peachtree Ridge proved they can win big two weeks ago (they won by 55) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Norcross 24-22.
Rayshaun Parks continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 126 yards and one touchdown on only 13 carries, while also throwing for 179 yards and one TD while completing 75% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Rhari Thomas, who picked up 94 receiving yards and one score.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Peachtree Ridge was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 239 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Duluth blew past Meadowcreek, posting a 50-20 win. The Wildcats' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Peachtree Ridge better keep an eye on Jahmir Joseph. He was instrumental in Duluth's win, rushing for 118 yards and a pair of TDs on only six carries. The dominant performance also gave Joseph a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). DeTwann Collins did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 87 receiving yards.
Duluth didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Peyton Fonville, Braylon Bashir, and Careem Tillman picked up one apiece. Fonville is also crushing it when it comes to defended passes: he's defended at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another thorn in Meadowcreek's side was Joshua Gary, who picked up a sack and made nine total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Peachtree Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Duluth, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Peachtree Ridge has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 158.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Duluth struggles in that department as they've been averaging 235.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Peachtree Ridge strolled past Duluth in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a score of 46-28. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
