Football Game Preview: J.L. Mann Patriots vs. Greenwood Eagles + How To Watch

The J.L. Mann Patriots will head out to take on the Greenwood Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. J.L. Mann has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with four straight losses, while Greenwood will come in with four straight wins.

J.L. Mann is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against T.L. Hanna on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Patriots took a blow against the Yellow Jackets, falling 55-17. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked tenth).

Despite the defeat, J.L. Mann got top-tier performance from Buddy Griffin, who rushed for 156 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only nine carries.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Greenwood). They blew past Woodmont 49-7 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four games by 23 points or more so far this season.

J.L. Mann better keep an eye on Tristan Lewis. He was instrumental in Greenwood's win, throwing for 166 yards and two TDs, while also rushing for 72 yards and one score on only eight carries. Martavious Hamilton helped out on the ground, rushing for 84 yards and a rushing touchdown.

J.L. Mann's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Greenwood, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.

J.L. Mann strolled past Greenwood in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a score of 31-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
