Baseball Recap: Durham Academy Comes Up Short

After flying high against Kerr-Vance Academy on Friday, Durham Academy came back down to earth. The Cavaliers fell 6-1 to the Wake Christian Academy Bulldogs on Monday. The Cavaliers have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Maxwell Niedel made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Durham Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Wake Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Durham Academy will face off against Kerr-Vance Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.94 runs per game on average), something the Cavaliers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Wake Christian Academy, they will square off against Ravenscroft at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Ravens have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
