Our Lady of the Lake Catholic waltzed into their game on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came out on top against the Covert Bulldogs by a score of 29-20. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 56-2 back in January.

Covert's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maeva Martinez, who posted four points in addition to 13 rebounds and three steals. Martinez is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least 11 every time she's taken the court this season. Briana Gallegos was another key player, putting up two points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Our Lady of the Lake Catholic's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 19.3 points over those games. As for Covert, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Our Lady of the Lake Catholic will take on St. Philip Catholic Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Covert, they will face off against Benton Harbor at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Covert is facing Benton Harbor at the right time seeing as Benton Harbor is stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
