Basketball Recap: Phoebus Comes Up Short

Phoebus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 101-10 loss at the hands of the Menchville Monarchs. While losing is never fun, the Phantoms can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 338th, while the Monarchs are ranked 19th).

Phoebus' loss dropped their record down to 2-18. As for Menchville, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 19-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Phoebus will take on Gloucester at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Menchville, they will face off against Hampton at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Menchville knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 20 matchups -- so hopefully Hampton likes a good challenge.
