Basketball Recap: Aliyia Terry's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Springfield over Riverdale

On Friday, the Springfield Yellow Jackets were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 38-34 to the Riverdale Warriors.

Springfield lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Aliyia Terry, who posted seven points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Terry a new career-high in rebounds. Adrianna Hudson was another key player, putting up five points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Springfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Leading Riverdale to victory were Abby Dennis and Alana Waller. Dennis went 5 of 12 on her way to 16 points and eight rebounds, while Waller had 14 points.

Springfield's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Riverdale, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

Springfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 62-51 loss against Page on the 28th. As for Riverdale, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Northeast at 6:00 p.m. on January 8th.
