Softball Recap: La Center Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

La Center hadn't done well against King's Way Christian recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. La Center blew past King's Way Christian 13-2. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wildcats considering their one-run performance the match before.

Billie Ross was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lauren Baker, who scored three runs while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Jessica Tomberlin was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

La Center's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.8 runs over those games. As for King's Way Christian, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

La Center will have a chance to go back-to-back against King's Way Christian: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
