Baseball Recap: Webberville Comes Up Short

Webberville made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Durand, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Spartans fell just short of the Railroaders by a score of 4-2 on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Railroaders: they've now lost five in a row.

KALEB NORTON made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. KARSON LYCOS also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Webberville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Durand, their win bumped their record up to 2-7.

Webberville and Durand could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. The Spartans will square off against Fulton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (549 vs. 152). Meanwhile, Durand (ranked 482nd) will meet New Lothrop (ranked 212th) at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
