Football Game Preview: Emery/Weiner vs. Giddings Lonestar Southeast Mustangs

Emery/Weiner is 7-1 against Giddings Lonestar Southeast since November of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. Emery/Weiner will venture away from home to square off against Giddings Lonestar Southeast at 2:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Emery/Weiner has four straight wins, Giddings Lonestar Southeast has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Emery/Weiner is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat Logos Prep Academy 59-24. Given Emery/Weiner's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Logos Prep Academy is ranked 78th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Emery/Weiner to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nathan Valk, who rushed for 154 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 15 carries. Those 154 rushing yards gave Valk a new career-high. Another pass catcher making a difference was Gabe Diamond, who picked up 144 receiving yards and two TDs.

Emery/Weiner didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Chase Sperling and Ryan Callahan.

Meanwhile, Giddings Lonestar Southeast was beaten by Westbury Christian 60-12 on Friday.

Emery/Weiner's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Giddings Lonestar Southeast, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Everything came up roses for Emery/Weiner against Giddings Lonestar Southeast in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 52-19 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Emery/Weiner since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
