Basketball Recap: Crestwood Takes a Loss

If Crestwood was feeling good fresh off their 95-28 takedown of Romulus last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Crestwood Chargers were beaten by the Wayne Memorial Zebras 60-20 on Friday. The matchup marked the Chargers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wayne Memorial to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaylohn Allen, who shot 73% from the field en route to 19 points and five steals. Allen is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Austin Tory, who went 7-for-13 to rack up 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Crestwood's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Wayne Memorial, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season.

Crestwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wayne Memorial, they will square off against Farmington at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wayne Memorial knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 18 matchups -- so hopefully Farmington likes a good challenge.
