Basketball Game Preview: Grassfield Grizzlies vs. King's Fork Bulldogs

Grassfield is 1-9 against King's Fork since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Grassfield Grizzlies will host the King's Fork Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Friday, everything came up roses for Grassfield against Great Bridge as the squad secured a 79-27 victory. Given the Grizzlies' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Wildcats are ranked 156th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Grassfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lauren Priester led the charge by going 8 for 16 en route to 20 points along with five assists and four steals. Priester has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 36 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Reid, who went 8 of 9 on her way to 18 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, King's Fork had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past the Braves 71-33.

Grassfield has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. As for King's Fork, their win bumped their record up to 11-3.

Grassfield came out on top in a nail-biter against King's Fork in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, sneaking past 37-35. Does Grassfield have another victory up their sleeve, or will King's Fork turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
