5A District 5 recap October 22, 2013

The biggest upset of the week belonged to South Oldham, who defeated 37th ranked Scott, 30-20.

Adding to the longest winning streak in 5A District 5 this week, the Dragons beat the Eagles 30-20. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Cooper's WILLIAM LUDWIG and COREY FUSSINGER have proven to be a lethal combination. LUDWIG has thrown for 1,753 yards this season, while FUSSINGER has 50 catches for 699 yards. Josh Castleman from Scott leads the league in rushing with 717 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Scott takes on second place Conner. Last week, Dan Woolley's team lost to Jamie Reed's team, while Conner topped Grant County.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Cougars take on the Eagles. Conner has allowed 150 points this season, while Scott has given up 118. James Trosper's team allowed 6 points last week as it beat the Braves.

The Dragons made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,866 from 3,411. The improvement was largely due to a 30-20 victory over the Eagles last week.
