The O'Connor Eagles will head out to square off against the Corona del Sol Aztecs at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. O'Connor is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
O'Connor barely beat Highland the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went O'Connor's way against Highland on Saturday as O'Connor made off with a 16-4 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Maci Jones was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). Jones was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three doubles, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Sydnee Williams was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Raegan Holtorf was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5.
O'Connor kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Corona del Sol came up short against Queen Creek on Saturday, falling 14-2. The game marked the Aztecs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
The victory got O'Connor back to even at 2-2. As for Corona del Sol, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
