Baseball Recap: Greensburg Comes Up Short

Greensburg was the 8-4 winner over Connersville when they last played one another on Monday, but their luck changed this time around. The Pirates took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans on Thursday. The matchup marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Greensburg saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Smith, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

Greensburg's loss dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Connersville, they moved to 12-14 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Looking ahead, Greensburg will venture away from home to face off against Batesville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Pirates 4.1, the Bulldogs 3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Connersville, they will welcome Pendleton Heights at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
