Baseball Recap: Edgewood Academy Drops Season-High Score on Hooper Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Edgewood Academy). Everything went their way against the Hooper Academy Colts on Tuesday as the Edgewood Academy Wildcats made off with a 19-6 win. Considering the Wildcats have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Garrett Myers looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Ethan Evans was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February of 2024. Landon Smith was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-5.

The victory (which was Edgewood Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 10-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hooper Academy, their loss was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-9.

Coming up, Edgewood Academy will square off against Port St. Joe at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Edgewood Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Port St. Joe's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Hooper Academy, they will host North Bay Haven Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hooper Academy has given up an average of 13.3 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
