Soccer Game Preview: Lafayette vs. Jamestown

The Lafayette Rams will head out to challenge the Jamestown Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lafayette proved they can win big back in March (they won by six) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Warhill.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jamestown). They put the hurt on Poquoson with a sharp 4-0 victory on Friday. The win continues a trend for Jamestown in their matchups with Poquoson: they've now won six in a row.

Jamestown pushed their record up to 3-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored eight goals over those three contests. As for Lafayette, they now have a winning record of 3-2-1.

Lafayette took their victory against Jamestown in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
