Recap: Bethany Christian Bruins vs. Concord Minutemen
After flying high against the South Bend Career Academy Trailblazers last Tuesday, the Bethany Christian Bruins came back down to earth. Bethany Christian took a 55-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Concord on Tuesday. Bethany Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Concord apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Bethany Christian still got an impressive performance from Zoe Willems, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 14 rebounds. That was a full 73.8% of Bethany Christian's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Concord's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shelby Emerick led the charge by scoring ten points along with seven assists. Dominique Stilley was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds.
Bethany Christian's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-4. As for Concord, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-10 record this season.
Bethany Christian will head out on the road to square off against Culver Academies at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Concord, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Plymouth at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Plymouth has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
