Softball Recap: Delphi Community Gets the Win

Delphi Community came out on top against Eastern on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run second inning. The Oracles had just enough and edged out the Comets 9-8. That's more bragging rights for the Oracles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Mairi Cunningham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered eight earned runs on 11 hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Kylynn Spitznagle was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Draper, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.

Delphi Community now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Eastern, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-14.

Coincidentally, Delphi Community and Eastern will both be playing Rossville the next time they take the field. The Comets will host the Hornets at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Oracles will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
