Preview: Lovington Wildcats vs. Carlsbad Cavemen

Lovington has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Carlsbad Cavemen at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Lovington is ranked 46th, while Carlsbad is ranked 35th).

Even though Ruidoso scored an imposing 60 points on Friday, Lovington still came out on top. Lovington enjoyed a cozy 76-60 victory over Ruidoso. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 15 to 6 on the offensive boards, as Lovington did.

Lovington can attribute much of their success to Julian Arroyo, who scored 21 points along with four steals, and Zadrick Betancourt, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Betancourt is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Demarcus Thompson jr, who scored four points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Meanwhile, Carlsbad beat Centennial 52-42 on Saturday.

Lovington is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Carlsbad, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Lovington came up short against Carlsbad in their previous matchup on Tuesday, falling 57-49. Can Lovington avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
