Basketball Recap: Buford Comes Up Short

Buford lost against North Central back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Buford Yellow Jackets fell just short of the North Central Knights by a score of 60-57. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Yellow Jackets have suffered since December 6, 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Buford lost, don't look at Jake Milhorn. Despite the final result, he went 7 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 31 points and five rebounds. Those 31 points gave Milhorn a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gage McManus, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards.

Buford's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-11. As for North Central, with the victory, they broke their 13-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Buford will welcome Cheraw at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Buford is facing Cheraw at the right time seeing as Cheraw is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for North Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against York Prep at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. York Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matches -- so hopefully North Central likes a good challenge.
