Softball Game Preview: Anniston Bulldogs vs. Munford Lions

Anniston hasn't had much luck against Munford recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lions at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, Anniston put up the most runs they have all season on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Talladega with a sharp 18-3 victory. The Bulldogs not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 12, 2024.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Munford, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top against Handley by a score of 10-7 on Tuesday.

Brooklyn Pressley made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kastin Lathem, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March. Jena Gaither was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Munford hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matches.

Munford's win bumped their record up to 20-5-1. As for Anniston, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-7.
