Two dominant backs in Elliot Baldini and Landan Johnson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Logansport Berries will challenge the Muncie Central Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The last four games Logansport has played have been within three points, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Logansport is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 15-12 win over Huntington North.
Quincy Jackson was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 104 yards on only ten carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 70 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Logansport was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 325 rushing yards. They are 6-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.
Another reason for the win was Logansport's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In that department, Loran Taylor was the leader with two.
Meanwhile, Muncie Central blew past Marion, posting a 48-21 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Bearcats' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 104th, while the Giants are ranked 211th).
Logansport better keep an eye on Dae'Cion Echols. He was instrumental in Muncie Central's win, rushing for 200 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. That's the most rushing yards Echols has posted since back in October of 2024. Kye Hiatt was in the mix as well, providing Muncie Central with two touchdowns.
Muncie Central didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Doiron Montgomery led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.
Logansport pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 41.9 points this season. As for Muncie Central, their record now sits at 6-4.
Everything went Logansport's way against Muncie Central in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Logansport made off with a 35-13 win. In that contest, the Berries amassed a halftime lead of 21-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
