Recap: Sanger Apaches vs. Centennial Golden Hawks
The Sanger Apaches lost against the Centennial Golden Hawks back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Sanger took a 57-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Centennial. While losing is never fun, Sanger can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 313th, while Centennial is ranked 136th).
It was another big night for Rippen Gill, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten steals for Centennial. The contest was Gill's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Godwill Fomusoh, who scored seven points along with 15 rebounds and five steals.
Sanger has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season. As for Centennial, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-3.
Sanger and Merced will round out the year against one another at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. Centennial's road trip will continue as they head out to face South Pointe at 8:30 p.m. on December 27th. South Pointe has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
