Softball Preview: Haverling Rams vs. Wayland-Cohocton Eagles

Haverling and Wayland-Cohocton are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2018, but likely not for long. The Haverling Rams will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against the Wayland-Cohocton Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Monday, it was close, but Haverling sidestepped Keshequa for a 7-5 victory.

Ryleigh Laverty looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits.

At the plate, Caydence Spears was excellent, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Wayland-Cohocton scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Monday. They blew past Hammondsport 30-0. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded Wayland-Cohocton with their most commanding win of the season.

Haverling's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-1. As for Wayland-Cohocton, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.

Haverling skirted past Wayland-Cohocton 3-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Haverling since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
