Volleyball Recap: Pontotoc Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Madi Collums and Sara Campos

Pontotoc was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lafayette Commodores. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Pontotoc was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Lafayette work for it, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 22-25, 26-24, 19-25, 25-12, 15-11.

Sara Campos and Madi Collums certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Campos had 16 digs, while Collums had 17 assists.

Pontotoc's defeat dropped their record down to 10-13-1. As for Lafayette, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-15.

Pontotoc wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against West Point on the 18th. As for Lafayette, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Caledonia on the 18th.
