Basketball Recap: Monticello Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Monticello unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through a 51-10 loss at the hands of the Middletown Middie Bears. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it 19 in a row.

Monticello got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Ava Williams and Morgan Hutchins, who each put up four points. Yarielis Betancourt held things down on the boards with four rebounds.

Monticello is taking a road trip to square off against Downsville Central at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Middletown, they will host Wallkill at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
