Baseball Recap: Kimberly Takes Down Ranked Appleton East

Kimberly faced Appleton East in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Papermakers walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Patriots. The win continues a trend for the Papermakers in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won five in a row.

Braedon Ellefson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Anzelmo, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Kimberly's record now sits at 10-3-1. As for Appleton East, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Kimberly is set to challenge their familiar foe Fond du Lac at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Papermakers 3.6, the Cardinals 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Appleton East will square off against rival Oshkosh North at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
