Football Recap: Braeden Palazzo and Carlos Ferguson Secure Win for Mcdonogh

McDonogh never let their opponents score on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Concordia Prep Saints as they made off with a 25-0 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 25 points or more this season.

A big part of McDonogh's win came down to the chemistry between Braeden Palazzo and his top target Carlos Ferguson. Palazzo threw for 167 yards and one touchdown while Ferguson picked up 128 receiving yards and one TD. Those 128 receiving yards gave Ferguson a new career-high.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to McDonogh's defense and their eight sacks. Leading the way was Joseph Buchanan III with four. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with ten. Another thorn in Concordia Prep's side was Makai McClendon, who picked up a sack and made eight total tackles (3.0 for loss).

McDonogh is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.2 points on average over those games. As for Concordia Prep, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

McDonogh has already played their next matchup, a 31-0 win against Gilman on the 1st. As for Concordia Prep, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-7 defeat against Calvert Hall on the 1st.
