Baseball Recap: Bishop Rosecrans Wins Going Away Against Liberty Christian Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bishop Rosecrans). They never let the Liberty Christian Academy Eagles get on the board and left with a 28-0 victory on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Haiden Omen and Jacobie Balo made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Omen tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Balo struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Omen went 3-for-6 with four RBI and two runs, while Balo scored five runs and stole a base while getting on base in all six of his plate appearances. Bishop Rosecrans is undefeated when Balo posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise.

In other batting news, Nick Bernath was a standout: he scored five runs while going 4-for-5. He has become a key player for Bishop Rosecrans: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Coen Grandstaff, who scored four runs while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.

Bishop Rosecrans always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

The victory made it two in a row for Bishop Rosecrans and bumps their season record up to 4-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.5 runs over those games. As for Liberty Christian Academy, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop Rosecrans will take on Fairfield Christian Academy at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Bishops' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Liberty Christian Academy, they will face off against Northside Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
