Softball Recap: Wesson Finds Home Field Redemption Against Warren Central

There's no place like home for Wesson, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the Warren Central Vikings on Thursday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-5 two weeks ago.

Maddie Sanders was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. She also put up a run, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Ady Rose Dowd was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Kenslie Carter, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Wesson's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Warren Central, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wesson will challenge Bogue Chitto at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Bogue Chitto is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season. As for Warren Central, they are taking a road trip to challenge Germantown at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
