Basketball Recap: Kenmore East Takes a Loss

Kenmore East played a tough match on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the West Seneca East Trojans and fell 75-47. If the Bulldogs were looking for revenge after losing 50-39 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

West Seneca East was led to victory by Madelyn Marcezin and Melanie Marcezin. Madelyn dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 steals, while Melanie went 6 for 13 en route to 19 points in addition to seven assists and seven rebounds. Those 19 points gave Melanie a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Holtmart, who went 5 of 7 on her way to 10 points.

Kenmore East's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for West Seneca East, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 4-7 record.

The future could be bright for both Kenmore East and West Seneca East: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Kenmore East will look to extend Lockport's four-game losing streak when the meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, West Seneca East will try to hand Cleveland Hill their third-straight loss when the two meet at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
