Softball Recap: Grovetown Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Grovetown, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Heritage Patriots on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won eight in a row.

Grovetown let Yessy Lugo and Isabella Garcia run wild. Lugo went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Garcia went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Lugo a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Adalyn McCully, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Grovetown hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive games dating back to last season.

Grovetown's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Heritage, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Grovetown will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Patriots: the pair will be back at it again later today.
