Basketball Recap: Wolcott Eagles vs. Torrington Raiders

The Wolcott Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 73-44 loss at the hands of Torrington. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wolcott in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now lost five in a row.

Leading Torrington to victory were Isaac Fenn and William Parkhouse. Fenn almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds, while Parkhouse almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Fenn has scored all season. Another player making a difference was DJ Williams, who scored 14 points.

Wolcott dropped their record down to 1-13 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Torrington, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wolcott will take on the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kennedy is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Torrington, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Ansonia knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully the Raiders like a good challenge.
