Recap: Fruita Monument Wildcats vs. Silver Creek Raptors
The Fruita Monument Wildcats put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 74-61 victory over Silver Creek. 74 seems to be a good number for Fruita Monument as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Fruita Monument's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Max Orchard led the charge by scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Orchard's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Thomason, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Despite the loss, Silver Creek had strong showings from Zander Storz, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds, and Luke Schmeeckle, who scored 19 points. That's the first time this season that Storz pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Fruita Monument's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Silver Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 6-1.
Fruita Monument and Grand Junction will face off at 1:30 p.m. on December 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Grand Junction will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Fruita Monument is ranked first). Silver Creek and Palisade will face off at 10:30 a.m. on December 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
