Basketball Preview: South Kitsap Wolves vs. Spanaway Lake Sentinels
After both having extra time off, the South Kitsap Wolves and the Spanaway Lake Sentinels will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Kitsap knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Spanaway Lake likes a good challenge.
Last Friday, South Kitsap was able to grind out a solid win over Bonney Lake, taking the game 62-55.
Meanwhile, Spanaway Lake lost to River Ridge at home by a 75-58 margin last Monday. The Sentinels were down 60-40 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
South Kitsap will have to contain Darius Alexander as he made an impact in Spanaway Lake's last game. He posted 25 points along with eight assists and six steals. Alexander's afternoon made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Key'Andre White, who put up nine points and six boards.
Spanaway Lake has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for South Kitsap, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.
South Kitsap didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Spanaway Lake when the teams last played back in December of 2021, but they still walked away with a 64-60 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Kitsap since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
