Softball Recap: Okaw Valley Takes a Loss

Okaw Valley had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 1-9 to make it six. They lost 10-0 to the Blue Ridge Knights. Having soared to a lofty 24 runs in the game before, the Timberwolves' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Blue Ridge, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

For Blue Ridge's part, they got a massive performance out of Lillian Enger, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Hayward, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and four RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Okaw Valley will head out to take on Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Timberwolves are facing the Titans at the right time seeing as the Titans are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Blue Ridge, they will head out on the road to face off against Heritage at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Hawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.71 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of.
