Baseball Recap: Reedsport Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Reedsport dropped their record down to 14-2 on Friday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins at home. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Myrtle Point Bobcats. Reedsport was not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Myrtle Point earlier this season, when they won 2-1.

As for Myrtle Point, their victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games.

For Myrtle Point's part, Jake Sproul spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 17 Ks. Sproul has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Landon Miller, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Hogge Logan, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Looking ahead, Reedsport will face off against Umpqua Valley Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Myrtle Point, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Bandon/Pacific at 4:30 p.m.
