Baseball Recap: University City Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

While University City put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Mira Mesa. The Centurions walked away with a 5-0 victory over the Marauders. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Centurions as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

The result came thanks to Thiago Quillin's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on AJ Curry, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Kaplan, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: University City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.

University City's record now sits at 15-12. As for Mira Mesa, their loss dropped their record down to 12-15.

University City will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Marauders: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
