Baseball Recap: South Beloit Sobos vs. Westminster Christian Warriors
Sadly, South Beloit is still looking for their first win of the season after eight contests. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Westminster Christian Warriors in Saturday's second game. One positive for South Beloit, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Gage Pasiecznik was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Pasiecznik was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, JT Sanders was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
On Westminster Christian's side, they got a great performance from Zach Gurley as he struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits.
On the hitting side, Jaxson Schultze was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Zorn, who went 2-for-2 with a stolen base and two RBI.
South Beloit's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Westminster Christian, they pushed their record up to 7-2-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Beloit will take on Alden-Hebron at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Westminster Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Harvest Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Harvest Christian Academy will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Westminster Christian surely won't give up without a fight.
