Basketball Game Preview: Fort Lauderdale Flying L's vs. Coral Springs Colts

Fort Lauderdale is 0-3 against Coral Springs since January of 2021 but things could change on Monday. The Fort Lauderdale Flying L's will head out to challenge the Coral Springs Colts at 6:00 p.m.

Fort Lauderdale is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Cardinal Gibbons on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Fort Lauderdale took a blow against Cardinal Gibbons, falling 55-21. The game marked the Flying L's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Fort Lauderdale's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Zoila Morrison, who posted three steals, and Azaziah Evans-Blake, who put up seven rebounds and three steals. Evans-Blake has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Coral Springs). They blew past Coral Glades, posting a 70-24 win. The Colts have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 24 points or more this season.

Coral Springs found their leader in sophomore Nethania Noel-Jeune, who went 10 of 16 on her way to 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Camryn Smith, who went 5 for 11 en route to 13 points.

The victory snapped Coral Springs' losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-7 record. As for Fort Lauderdale, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-5.

Fort Lauderdale was taken down by Coral Springs 70-11 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Fort Lauderdale avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
