Baseball Recap: Damonte Ranch Takes a Loss

Damonte Ranch was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 13-3 to the O'Connor Eagles.

Damonte Ranch got a good showing from Matthew Bonczyk, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Bonczyk has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, David Barajas was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Matt Schreiner, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Even though they lost, Damonte Ranch hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matches.

Damonte Ranch's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for O'Connor, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-4.

We've got a battle between Mustangs coming up. Damonte Ranch has given up an average of 10 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. O'Connor has already played their next contest (against Holland Hall), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
