Basketball Recap: Mid Valley Comes Up Short

Mid Valley was the 52-36 winner over Lakeland when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Mid Valley Spartans fell to the Lakeland Chiefs 43-38. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Mid Valley lost on Thursday, don't look at Demaja Dunston. Despite the final result, he posted ten points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Kaleik Cook, who put up six points and eight boards.

Lakeland's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chase Rosenkrans, who went 5-for-11 en route to 11 points. Nathan Hunt was another key player, putting up eight points and seven rebounds.

Mid Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Lakeland, their victory bumped their record up to 7-15.

Mid Valley has already played their next game, a 57-33 loss against Valley View on the 18th. As for Lakeland, they will head out to challenge Holy Cross at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Holy Cross knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Lakeland likes a good challenge.
