Flatirons Academy has won eight straight games at home, while Haxtun has won eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Saturday. The Bison will welcome the Fightin' Bulldogs at 11:00 a.m. Flatirons Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.7 runs per game this season.
Flatirons Academy lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Lyons, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's game. The Bison never let the Lions get on the board and left with a 9-0 win on Thursday. The Bison might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by nine runs or more this season.

Mateo Pope and Caleb Doughty made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Pope struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Doughty tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the most strikeouts Pope has posted since back in May of 2024. At bat, Pope scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances, while Doughty went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
In other batting news, Noah Evans was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Parker Wilson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Haxtun posted their closest victory since April 23, 2024 on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Yuma 8-6.
Like Flatirons Academy, Haxtun also got a great game from a two-way player: Kanin Koberstein. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Koberstein has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.
In other pitching news, Colin Cone looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Haxtun let Grant Statz and Ryland Wolff run wild. Statz scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Wolff scored two runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Lock, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Haxtun always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Yuma only posted an OBP of .314.
Flatirons Academy's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Haxtun, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Flatirons Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .436. However, it's not like Haxtun struggles in that department as they've averaged .322. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Flatirons Academy suffered a grim 19-7 defeat to Haxtun when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Will the Bison have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
