Baseball Recap: Sarcoxie Takes a Loss

Sarcoxie had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 1-4 to make it four. They lost 11-5 to the Blue Eye Bulldogs. The Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2019.

Blue Eye's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. They not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 21, 2025 (when they won 18-3).

For Blue Eye's part, Braxton Bell made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). Bell was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs.

In other batting news, Cole Lippie was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Joey Feagans was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Looking ahead, Sarcoxie will be playing in front of their home fans against Southwest at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something the Bears will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Blue Eye, they will face off against Galena at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
