Recap: Wes-Del Warriors vs. Eastern Hancock Royals
The Wes-Del Warriors lost against the Eastern Hancock Royals back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Wes-Del took a 54-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Eastern Hancock. Wes-Del has struggled against Eastern Hancock recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Wes-Del's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josiah Love, who scored 17 points. Love scored a full 37% of Wes-Del's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe Becerra, who scored 9 points.
Leading Eastern Hancock to victory were Kayden Ruble and Luke Morris. Ruble dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Morris scored 19 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Morris has scored at least 25% of Eastern Hancock's points. Another player making a difference was Caiden Willis, who scored 10 points.
Wes-Del's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Eastern Hancock, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Wes-Del will head out on the road to face off against Union at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Eastern Hancock, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Northeastern at 7:30 p.m. Northeastern will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 204th, while Eastern Hancock is ranked 81st).
