Soccer Game Preview: Tatum vs. Carthage

Tatum is 1-9 against Carthage since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Eagles will face off against the Bulldogs at 2:00 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Tatum fell victim to Kilgore and their airtight defense on Saturday. They lost 12-0 to the Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, Tatum can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 739th, while Kilgore are ranked 19th).

Meanwhile, Carthage's game on Tuesday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of Pine Tree by a score of 2-1. Carthage haven't had much luck with Pine Tree recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Carthage's goal came courtesy of Jesus Lopez, who's now up to five this season.

Tatum's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Carthage, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.

Tatum couldn't quite get it done against Carthage in their previous matchup back in January as they fell 2-0. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
