Basketball Recap: Cami Courtad's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hawken over Orange

Hawken was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss dating back to last season. They received a blow as they fell 50-36 to the Orange Lions. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hawks of the 39-31 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Hawken lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Cami Courtad, who posted five points along with seven boards and three steals. That's the most points Courtad has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Liu, who had 11 points and eight rebounds.

Hawken's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Orange, their win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-9.

Hawken and Orange could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Hawken (ranked 738th) will meet Richmond Heights (ranked 189th) at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Similarly, Orange (ranked 644th) will meet Perry (ranked 294th) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
