Softball Game Preview: Cherryville Ironmen vs. Bessemer City Yellow Jackets

For the second straight game, Cherryville will face off against Bessemer City. The Ironmen will be playing in front of their home fans against the Yellow Jackets at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cherryville has five straight wins, Bessemer City has nine straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Cherryville's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Bessemer City with a sharp 16-0 victory. The Ironmen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by eight runs or more this season.

Alexis McSwain was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Proctor, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Cherryville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .741. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Cherryville's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Bessemer City, their loss dropped their record down to 4-14.
